Living Room Sessions.
The Brief
I was lucky enough to be brought onto this incredibly talented team to concept the brand design for Living room sessions. Described by its director Brennan Wisdom as "The living room meets the stage; a concert series elevating BIPOC artistry", LRS is a live event series that showcased several BIPOC artists (musical, performance, spoken word, etc) that started with individual photography sessions with the artists, Phil, and Wiz, and culminated in its first LRS live show at the Drake Underground in Toronto on 15 October 2023.
The Concept
The LRS logo's essence is the lounge chair - a staple piece for artistic living rooms worldwide. Not only do the letters convey an object that directly represents the living room, but the L 'lounges' on the other two letters creating a simple but obvious form. Paired with another mid-century classic, the Helvetica typeface, and strong photography to juxtapose the blank white space (left open for ideas), the logo effectively reminds of where all great performers start - the living room.
